I've had the privilege to own and play on a Giancarlo Arcieri viola from 2018 for the last six years. Since meeting Giancarlo in 2019 and purchasing the instrument in 2020, this viola has continued to expand its already wonderful tone. It has grown with me, affording me opportunities across the globe in places such as New York, Italy, and Norway. The instrument offered me a chance to expand my understanding of what a great instrument is, helping me bridge gaps in my technique and sound concept. I successfully won my position with the New World Symphony on the instrument and have had other chamber music, solo, and orchestral opportunities since then. And one of the many special qualities of this instrument is its maker! I'm always grateful for how flexible and responsive Giancarlo is - always available to answer any questions and make adjustments, as necessary. Giancarlo is someone who brings decades of experience, but a youthful curiosity for learning in this art form, and humility that makes him stand out as not just an expert artisan but as a true friend.
